Dining With Us makes it easy and fun to explore the myriad of restaurants and nightlife available on our beautiful island. We have 3D tours of the most popular restaurants, detailed photos, descriptions, menus and maps of the best venues in Barbados. Our user reviews keep you up-to-date on ‘what’s hot... and what’s not.’ And, the live videos available on YouTube and Google, as well as our Facebook account, give you an insider’s view of the best in town. This year, we’ve added our new Chef Showcase section which gives you a chance to ‘meet’ some of Barbados’ top chefs – or if you’ve already got a favorite chef, you can now read up on what he or she is doing, where they are and even try out some of their own ‘signature recipes.’ This section of the site also enables local and visiting chefs to join the online forum, research local employment and educational opportunities, and share the spotlight with our “Chef of the Month’ feature. Helpful hints for dining out in Barbados
· Daytime
dress in Barbados is quite laid back in most hotels and Evening dress is somewhat more formal. Even in casual restaurants, shorts and T-shirts are not generally acceptable for dining out. Ladies will feel most comfortable in slacks, sundresses or skirts. Always check with your selected restaurant before you go as to what their dress code is-some more upscale venues require a jacket for gentlemen after 6:00PM While reservations are not always required, we recommend that you call the restaurant you’ve selected before you go to ask whether they require a reservation or not. Some well known restaurants in Barbados are fully booked weeks and months ahead – especially over holiday periods and during the winter season. And a number of restaurants close for annual vacations and refurbishment during the slower summer or fall seasons. It’s also good to note that some restaurants that are open all weekend long are closed on Mondays, or Tuesdays. Again, be sure to call before you go. Many restaurants include a service charge or tip (usually 10%) on their bill. Check for this before leaving an additional tip, but if you found the service to be exceptionally good – feel free to leave that extra ‘thank you’. It will be most appreciated. Local value-added tax (V.A.T.) of 17.5% may be added to your bill – or may already be included in the prices listed on your menu. If in doubt, ask your server if the VAT is included. You can usually make arrangements with a taxi driver at your hotel to take you to a particular restaurant – and return to pick you up at an agreed upon time. You set the roundtrip price with the driver before leaving your hotel, and pay him in full when he returns to pick you up.
